The Ability Factor: Employing people with disabilities makes good business sense

This animation was jointly produced by the International Labour Organization's (ILO) Global Business and Disability Network and the ILO/International Finance Corporation (IFC) Better Work partnership. Employability Skills- All Eight Skills
Young people benefit from having opportunities to learn about working, to develop the skills they need to succeed in employment and build self-efficacy and self-belief. Where this is done well there are benefits for the individual in increasing their employability, for employers in helping them recruit staff who have the skills that they need and for communities in reducing unemployment and supporting young people to make good choices about training and employment.
Doing the Job: Basic Job Skills (interpersonal skills) (30 min)
An employee’s best qualities may have little to do with technical or clerical issues. Often, it is a professional attitude that makes a worker valuable—an array of personal strengths that enable her or him to accomplish goals, get along with colleagues, and rise through the ranks. This video brings those all-too-elusive aspects of job success into focus, exploring professional behavior, ethics, communication, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, organization, and information management. Discussions focus on collaboration, taking initiative, and office etiquette; the hazards of procrastination, dishonesty, and unethical actions; the ability to take and give constructive criticism; the four C’s of good writing (be clear, concise, compelling, and correct); effective uses for technology in completing projects and presenting work; and much more.
